Old yet Gold..Toyota Fortuner 3.0 D-4D

With General Motors filing for Chapter 11 for bankruptcy, Toyota has managed to become the World’s largest automaker, and now it comes up with its fortune cookie in India, the Fortuner. Assembled at the Bidadi, Karnataka plant of¬†Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited, Fortuner is an SUV with a gigantic & muscular looks to keep us impressed.

Whats not so happening with this car is that India gets a piece of it only after its launch in the International Market for more that 4 years. And thats quiet some time to keep me disappointed with the company’s policy towards Indian customers, and at the same time created a¬†weird feeling of being ignored by the manufacturer. Alright now, I am not challenging the fact that Toyota is the world’s biggest and probably the finest automaker at present, its just that why there was such a delay for a car like Fortuner in India, which had a sure¬†recipe of being successful in the Indian market even back then.

Getting back on the car, the Fortuner comes with a  3.0 liter D-4D, 4- cylinder, intercooler turbo charged common-rail diesel engine. The engine produces a maximum power output of 171PS and max. Torque of 343 Newton Meter(Nm)

Other cars in this segment includes Mitsubishi Pajero 2.8 SFX, Ford Endeavour Thunder+, and Nissan X-Trail SLX (AT).

Mitsubishi Pajero has lost its glory days due to its ageing body, both internal and external. Ford Endeavour with its massive and gigantic size does not manage to get better than most of its competitors . Its quality is better than the Pajero but slightly lesser than the Fortuner. Both the Pajero and Endeavour have  3rd row seats, which is strictly only for the kids. Pajero particularly has a 3rd row seat which seems to top the category of the level of compromising.
